DVR ... Winning

By

I tend to fight new technology tooth and nail. I fought compact discs. I fought DVD players. I even fought my latest love -- the DVR.

Not unlike a lady recently featured on the hit tv show, Hoarders , I record a lot of my favorite tv shows. Yes, in this day and age of DVD recording, IPOD/ITunes and streaming frenzy, I still own 3 VCRs and joyfully record interesting entertainment for a rainy day -- like if the UVerse cuts off unexpectedly, or the cable bill gets too high.

I must say that I have a pretty nice collection. Though I must admit ashamedly to recording over the WINANS family singing Christmas carols on The Oprah Winfrey Show , as well some first run episodes of Doogie Howser M.D. and The Facts of Life -- the one where Mrs. Garrett leaves Tootie, Jo, Blair and Natalie with wacky Beverly Ann after marrying the guy who used to play Chester on Soap . Or the SAMMY DAVIS JR. star studded birthday celebration that EDDIE MURPHY hosted.

All of that to say ... I love being able to have a show from February of last year still be saved in February of this year. Plus there's the option of fast forwarding to see if you really want to watch it or not and enjoying last year's favorite commercials; deciding if any of it is VHS worthy.

Like right now, I'm watching the pilot for the ABC drama, Pan Am ... Talk about sexy. I mean, you take out the Civil Rights/White folk beating up Black folk/ assasinations and what have you and you got a pretty arousing time period with the 1960s. And how hot is the idea of having liasons with a stewardess who lives on the plane half of the time, out of a hotel the other half, while traveling all around the world?

Before that, I watched the CW's Hart of Dixie starring that fine specimen of a woman, RACHEL BILSON, who played, Summer on The OC; a show that I discovered in reruns on SOAPNET right before it was ending its run on FOX.

Considering that I have a major crush on her and I love Country/ Western/ Small town kind of shows so much that I posted all "7 parts" of Little House:The Last Farewell on Facebook --I seriously hope that Rachel's show earns at least 2 seasons. That way a DVD set will be inevitable and I can own it on VHS and DVD.

You'll have to excuse me. I'm such a tv show geek, I should get paid to watch it. It would be the most effortless check I ever made ... Any takers ...? Bueller ...?

Me too TOS. Sometimes I joke about it being witchcraft, but then "Samantha Stevens", "Sabrina" and the "Charmed Ones" made witchcraft somewhat appealing.
